A favorite compliment
I was cleaning my windowsills this morning when I had a flash back to 2005. This glass marble was my portal. It was given to me by a funny little man during my days as an office worker. Somewhere between eight and five, smashed between Monday and Friday he stopped by my cubicle and gave me this marble. He prefaced this gift by saying: "Out of all of the women in this office, you are the only one who would have survived the 1800's."
I still get a good smile going when I think of him and that day. This marble has been included in every one of my moves since, but it's his words that thrill me the most. He also used to say loud enough for me to hear over the cubicles; "You'll find your stride." I guess he saw something in me back in those days that I was searching for mostly in the dark.
In these days of light, I see what it was he was trying to tell me. Thanks Tom, wherever you are.

That is a special marble.. wow. did u notice how the design almost mimics your own artistry?
ReplyDeleteYou know, recently I did notice : ) How special is that?
ReplyDeletemaybe what he said did have an indirect impact?
ReplyDelete:-)
perhaps. i think he knew all along I wasn't cut out for an office and in his own way he was nudging me out of there. he bought a painting off me back in those days too....bless his heart! the spiral in the marble is telling... in present time it's no secret it's a pattern i'm a bit obsessed with : )
ReplyDeletespirals are quite significant in meaning: rising up and out and beyond.
