Soon enough

I opened my eyes on a world lined in a thin crust of white. The last day of September and there is snow on my little hill up North.

I sat for a spell outside. I wanted to savor the lingering warmth and each last yellowed leaf. With the neighbor's dog howling, I took note---green grass, dirt earth, moving river, slight breeze---

I'll stand soon enough on the crystalline curve of winter I think, so for now it's---birch trees bending, warm sun melting, rustle of leaves---

  1. Amy: It is good to hear how things are looking there for you..and that photograph is telling.. here---leafs are releasing and fluttering to the forest floor,, gently, right now - but there is still a lot of green to be seen. Sharp colours however, markedly are appearing & so stunning. Utter Beautiful Nature. Keep well Amy!
