A tree fell in the forest

A day in the studio tugs on me, yet I can't resist moving my coffee drinking porch party to our hill -- to sit, barefoot -- a little while longer in the sun.
I catch thoughts like fireflies -- cupping them briefly between two hands.

I notice how the color green has arrived and every year I find myself exclaiming,
"This happened overnight!"

New growth sneaks up on me like that.

It continues to amaze me how out of the bellies of December, January and February, spring returns with a fierceness to my Northern lands.

Once more, I bear witness to Alaska lighting herself up, blue midnight giving way to a midnight sun.

I just heard a tree fall.
True story.
Winds are whipping something fierce up here.
On that note, I'm taking it inside.

  1. me, too: just this year i found myself thinking: "i forgot what green looked like, it's been so long since i've seen it...."

and: you settled the argument: a tree fell and you heard it.
