New Work

RE-WORKED VORTEX was originally inspired by a springtime, full moon road trip to Northern Arizona. I re-worked and completed Vortex this summer in Alaska. The re-work was inspired by indigenous patterns, tribal tattoos, mystery, ritual, possibility, bindi jewels, Southern Arizona color, first kisses and an afternoon pondering human connection.

TREE STUDY was inspired by trees seen from my studio window, the beauty of birch bark, sunlight through new leaves, daydreaming, cloud watching and an afternoon pondering the magic of summer in Alaska.

ISLAND was inspired by turquoise waters in Belize and Kodiak Island, tidal books, red suns, cresting waves, rays of light, whirling eddies, beach combing for sandollars, the lush green that comes from frequent rain and an afternoon pondering what it means to flow with life.

FIREFLIES was originally inspired by Alaska's winter skies and snowy birch trees. I re-worked and completed FIREFLIES this summer in Alaska. The re-work was inspired by my collection of memories of fireflies in the backyard of Texas and on wooded paths in Guatemala, Japanese characters made from brushes dipped in Sumi ink, a love of cadmium red sharp lines, ripples on water and an afternoon pondering magnetism.

GRANDMOTHERS was originally inspired by a springtime, full moon road trip to Northern Arizona. I re-worked and completed GRANDMOTHERS this summer in Alaska. The re-work was inspired by murals/miscellaneous art in Tucson, Arizona depicting the Virgin Mary, my grandmothers Lillian and Mary, cocoons-caterpillars-butterflies, angel wings, the inside of conch shells, henna designs and an afternoon pondering the power of prayer.
